Essential Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be able to provide assistance during all phases of the litigation process to include:
Manage case discovery and deadlines
Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments
Draft legal documents to include discovery requests and responses, motions, affidavits, subpoenas and correspondence under attorney supervision
Perform background investigations, as well as locate and interview witnesses
Review case documents and prepare summary of key facts and information
Prepare medical chronologies and bill summaries
Retain and interact with various experts including identifying relevant documents for expert analysis
Assist with all aspects of mediation, arbitration and trial preparation
Assist with other special projects and related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Someone who will seamlessly integrate with our diverse and sociable team
An experienced paralegal with at least five years of experience in civil litigation
Demonstrated understanding of personal injury and/or premise liability matters
Required Skills:
Ability to analyze data and documents to identify and present key information
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
In-depth working knowledge of Oregon and/or Washington state and federal rules of civil procedure
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
Proficient with Adobe Pro or similar PDF editor
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with a strong initiative to meet billable requirements
Preferred Skills:
Comfortable with learning new case management programs and technology
Invested in continuing legal education
Flexible and capable of responding quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities
Able to work under strict deadlines
Effectively manage multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously
Able to prioritize tasks appropriately
